Support for built-in IP camera video detectors

Many modern IP cameras contain built-in video detectors which are triggered by certain events - movement in the scene, crossing of a line, entry into a zone, etc. Axxon Smart supports this camera feature, which allows receiving detector triggering events and to use these events in the subsequent operation, for example, start recording upon detecting motion in the scene.

Support of video detectors built into the IP-cameras

Support of video detectors built into the cameras offers several advantages over the use of video detectors on the video server. First, it eliminates the additional load on the video server’s processor, since there is no need to run resource-intensive decompression of the video stream. With this, more cameras can be connected to one video server. Moreover, the video detectors built into the cameras work with video streams, which were not subjected to compression with subsequent decompression. Therefore, compared to the software video detectors on the video server, these video detectors work with video images of higher quality. This helps ensure more stable operation of the video detector under difficult conditions, for example, in poor visibility.

The next version, Axxon Smart PRO 2.1, will include the ability to obtain from the cameras not only the events, which triggered the video detector, but also the trajectory and speed of objects moving in the scene (tracks). This will be required for the operation of the Intelligent Search system, which enables parameter-based search of records in the video archive and will be implemented in Axxon Smart PRO 2.1.
